I left my knee in a creek...

Or maybe a creek stole my left knee. Either way I have been on crutches for the past two weeks because of an incident involving a wild puppy, some mystery poo, a dead tree stump, a bum knee, and a creek. Wow, sounds almost like an I Spy or Where's Waldo*. I guess I am the winner because I found all 5. I ruptured the ACL in my left knee. I did the same thing about 9 years ago. I was a bit disappointed because last time I think it was about an 8 hour surgery. I just met with my bone doctor and he informed me that if everything goes well this one should only be about 36 minutes. At least that is all the time he needs for his part. I will be there a bit longer but I won't be spending the night this time. Yay! No peeing into a pitcher overnight! I may even be able to go back to work for a bit before surgery and this time my recovery shouldn't be quite as long. I guess things could be worse. Keep us in your prayers but now you don't need to pray quite as hard. I am pretty sure God is hearing them because he is answering.

*I don't think this is an official Where's Waldo site. It is still entertaining. I am not responsible for content either. It isn't my site and I didn't even look at the entire thing. As always you are on your own. Thankyou. Please comeagain.

THE GODFATHER

I know that anyone who reads this blog is probably hoping there would be a bunch of pics here by now. I think I even promised that earlier. My brothers beat me to it. If you are reading this you probably know the addresses of their blogs. If not, too bad. I am too lazy to link em so you are on your own. This is one of the pictures only I have and it is one of the ones that means the most to me. You would expect all the grandparents and other family members to be smitten with her. They are. But one of the coolest things about this whole event is the genuine interest and support from people outside the family. This is a picture of one of my best friends, Adam. It was awesome to hang out with him and a joy to see the delight my daughter brought to his day. Shanna and I would like to thank everyone including our family for the ongoing love and support throughout our marriage.

Adam, this post will probably get back to you sooner or later. I hope I didn't make you sound too wussy. If anyone teases you for holding a baby they are no friend of mine and won't be holding my daughter anytime soon. Thanks for coming over tonight! Posted by Hello

D-Day is upon us.

The first signs of the end are here. This morning saw the coming of the mucus plug. Yes men, this is actually part of the human body. Don't worry, you don't have one. This means that contractions should start within 24 hours. I had an important interview scheduled for Thursday at 10:30 so I called and rescheduled it. Amazing how willing people are to work with you when you tell them that labor is involved! I will keep everyone updated and you can expect to see some pictures of Emma in the next 72 hours. That is if I come home and decide to post before I do anything else.
Good news for those following my knee drama. The swelling is down and I can straighten it for the most part. I still don't know what is going on. The MRI results are taking a while to get to my Dr. I should be able to walk before the weekend is over. Pray that everything goes smoothly and I can get my results soon. This will let me know what I need to be doing next.

P.S. Bring your cameras. Not only will there be a new baby, I am sure that there will be a new mother and father who will both be in wheelchairs.

Wanted: Pro Bono Coach

I have a coaching position that needs to be filled. My qualifications: a couple years of city league basketball in my early teens. I was captain of my college intramural baseball team. Although come to think of it that consisted of setting up the batting order, fielding positions, and keeping most of my players entertained with witty banter. Oh yeah, I did compete in a couple video game competitions. Nothing formal though, usually just impromptu late night games that seemed to happen every night. As you can see, I have little experience that would make me fit to coach anything. So why has society decided to call dads "coaches?" It was probably coined by those guys that wish they could carry the baby. The ones who tell everyone "we" are pregnant. Either that or maybe it was ladies who are trying to make guys feel like they really have something to contribute to the birthing process. I kind of like the good old days where the men were out in the waiting rooms smoking and sweating. Let's make one thing clear. I am not a coach. If Neuheisel is looking for some Pro Bono work I would be interested to interview him for the position. As far as I am concerned I think my wife will be the coach and the player. She is going to be coaching me by telling me what to do that can make her more comfortable. My mission is to obey. I think calling men "coach" is one of the biggest misnomer ever. Regardless that is my position and when the big game comes I'll be there from the pre-game warm up until retirement.

Wow this is blurry. Hey wait, this is actually what most of the world looks like to me at this point. I can't believe how much stuff this kid has. There isn't even room for her crib. I was out of college before I owned this much. I don't think we will need to buy any clothes for our next kid. Hopefully we have another girl. But even if we have a boy he is going to be the best dressed girl in class!  Posted by Hello

Update

Today Shanna gave birth to a strapping 14lb baby goat. Must have been from that time I got in the motorcycle accident and had to have one of my testicles replaced with a goat testicle. No wait. This was just one of the crazy hormone induced dreams my wife has been having since she is STILL PREGNANT. Actually, things aint goin too bad. The due date is tomorrow. At least it will be tomorrow in about one hour. Here are the details everyone has been waiting to hear. Shanna is about 75% effaced. Women, you probably know what this means. Men, either wait until you experience pregnancy or ask your mom. This means that the delivery should be just around the corner right? Wrong. It means she is exactly as far along this week as she was last week. Yes Cer, Vixing I should think. Hmmmm did I spell that wrong? Maybe the word I was think of was Vexing. Yes. Yes sir, I definitely meant vexing. Enough word games. To make a long story longer we have a date at the delivery ward for Thursday evening. Shanna's doctor is on call for Friday so we get to spend the night at the one place I love to say goodbye to everyday. I'll bet most of you can't remember the last time you had to spend the night at your work. If everything goes as planned she will deliver on Friday March 18. Let the one week countdown begin.
